Imran Khan, the politician and former Pakistan cricket capatin, has been detained by police clamping down on opposition to George W Bush's visit to the country.

Dozens of supporters from Movement for Justice, his opposition party, were also arrested ahead of a planned rally. [snip]

The American president's visit has been surrounded by extraordinary security. Ahead of his arrival, there were several noisy anti-US protests across Pakistan, but there was little sign of unrest on Saturday.

After his detention, Mr Khan told Pakistani television that he had been put under house arrest "just to appease Bush."

He calls President Musharraf a dictator - so presumably that's the right word to use in describing the Prime Minister who prevented protests from 'disrupting' the President's visit to the UK too?

Bush and Blair wouldn't know freedom if it slapped them around the face with its identity card.
